American Council on Education (ACE)

Workforce Training Related Transfer Credit Evaluation

The American Council on Education (ACE) National Guide contains transfer credit recommendations for formal courses, training, or examinations offered by various organizations, from businesses and unions to the government and military. Visit the ACE website.

Eastern Florida will consider the credit recommendations of ACE but does not guarantee transfer.

To receive evaluation for credit, the student must provide an official transcript from ACE. Learn more about how to request an ACE transcript.

Earning Credit for ACE Exams

  • Students must provide an official ACE transcript. The official ACE Transcript is powered by Credly. It includes credit recommendations and competencies earned through prior learning. These can include workplace training, certifications, and exams. The website explains how to request a transcript. We do not evaluate from a transcript or certificate provided by an organization. For example, if a student provided a certificate from the Walt Disney Co. for Disney Communications Course, we would not accept it. But if they provided an ACE transcript with the course, we would evaluate it.
  • General Education Courses are not normally recognized as equivalent to Eastern Florida courses. Additional documentation and evaluation may be required.
  • Technical courses will normally be considered only if we teach the equivalent course. Additional documentation and evaluation may be required.
  • A maximum of 45 semester hours of combined credit from accelerated mechanisms and/or prior learning assessment can be applied toward a degree.
  • Duplicate credit cannot be awarded, i.e. if student has already received a grade of “C” or higher for a course, student will not be awarded credit for the course again.
  • Courses may be used for grade forgiveness purposes if the student did not previously pass the course.
  • The grade of “S” is given for each course and will not calculate into student’s GPA.
  • Students must be aware of initial testing and retake policies for each exam. Some exams require students to wait a specific amount of time before they can retake the exam.
  • For graduation purposes, exams must be taken and successfully passed prior to the last date of the month in which graduation is sought.
  • Students will not be assessed any tuition or fees for credits awarded. Students are responsible for costs associated with taking the exam and any documentation needed from ACE.
