Core classes are common to all EFSC computer associate degrees and provide training in foundational computer concepts; the specialization courses build skills needed to work in specific industry fields; and technical electives give students a chance to gain knowledge in the related subjects that interest them most. By having common core computer courses, it provides flexibility for students interested in information technology to start their coursework and have a variety of options. They can take time to zero in on a specialization in this A.S. degree or even consider switching to another computer A.S. option when it's time to build on those core courses.

Students in the A.S. degree program must chose one of the three curriculum specializations.

The eight core courses shared by all three specializations include these four classes.
