Public Safety Management BAS Track - Admissions Information
To join the program, you just need to follow the regular application process for a bachelor's degree at EFSC. Make sure to keep track of any upcoming application deadlines. The program has three start terms: Fall, Spring, and Summer, which begin in August, January, and May respectively.
To qualify for the Public Safety Management BAS Track, it's crucial to have completed either an Associate in Science (A.S.) or an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree from a college that's regionally accredited. It's important to note that an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree does not meet the minimum requirements for eligibility. If you have an AAS degree and wish to transfer to a BAS program, it's recommended that you seek guidance from a bachelor advisor. They can help you review your coursework and guide you on the necessary steps to take.
Brief Costs and Financial Aid Eligibility
If you're a Florida resident, you have the opportunity to finish the program in two years with an estimated in-state tuition of about $7,200. But keep in mind that this cost doesn't include expenses for course materials or lab fees.
Since applicants are required to have an associate degree, you'll need to complete 60 additional credits for the program. Among these credits, approximately 39 will be for upper-level courses, which are priced according to EFSC's fee schedule.
Financial assistance is available to support you during your studies. You may be eligible for financial aid and scholarships, including Titan Scholarships funded through the EFSC Foundation. Moreover, there are external scholarships available from the community that you can explore to help with your education costs.
Public Safety Management Courses You Would Take
In this program, you'll acquire practical public safety management skills that can be directly applied in real-life scenarios. In addition to the degree's eight common core courses, you'll take specific classes designed to establish a solid foundation in this field. A few of these courses include:
Get an overview of the history of public safety and the primary aspects of public safety management, while examining major administrative and managerial concerns.
Learn about the implementation of emergency management plans for incident management, as well as operation continuity for both the government and the community.
Review the implementation of national incident management standards, and explore the development of National Response Frameworks.
Explore homeland security laws and regulations, human resource issues, management priorities, and more. FEMA's role in policy development will also be examined.
