Online Steering Committee
The mission of the Online Steering Committee (OSC) is to elevate the quality of online education by providing guidance on best practices and online standards, reviewing teaching tools and technologies, and facilitating professional development for faculty.
Through these efforts, the OSC aims to drive ongoing improvements in online teaching and promote student success at Eastern Florida State College.

OSC Goals
1. Foster a supportive community of online instructors based on recognized online quality standards to support continuous improvement.
2. Provide clear guidance to promote regular and substantive interactions that enhance student engagement, connection, and support.
3. Review and recommend innovative teaching tools and technologies to improve the online learning experience.
4. Facilitate professional development opportunities that equip full-time and adjunct faculty with effective strategies for online teaching.
5. Communicate best practices and innovative teaching strategies in online education to key stakeholders.
6. Use data-driven insights to assess and recommend strategies that advance student success and optimize online course design.
OSC Subcommittees & Resources
Resources included here are designed to enable instructors and students as they undertake the unique challenges and responsibilities of online learning.
Open Educational Resources to support teaching and learning
Master Courses: These turn-key Canvas courses can be copied into an empty course shell as a starting point, with select elements that can be modified or added by the instructor.
The New Online Teaching Technologies Subcommittee vets new and soon-to-be available technology to ensure EFSC consider the newest systems, processes, and resources for online and blended learning.

The Online Quality Standards Subcommittee creates and reviews the standards for online learning at EFSC. The Committees researches best practices and the technology in use at the college to ensure standards meet the needs of students. As of September 2021, the Online Quality Standards Committees is in ad hoc status.

The Educational Technology Advisory Subcommittee reviews all educational software and hardware purchases and proposed technology upgrades that might have a direct impact on EFSC students and instructors and makes recommendations. ETAC maintains the approved software list for Educational Teaching Materials, which is available through the Academic Council's document list.
