How to Apply to EFSC As A

Transfer Student

You’re in the right place if Eastern Florida State College is not the first college or university you've attended and you now plan to seek a degree or certificate at Eastern Florida.

EFSC offers the Transfer Equivalency Self-Service audit tool known as TESS so those considering a transfer to Eastern Florida can see how their transferred classes would articulate and apply toward a degree at EFSC.

You can also check our guidelines for more details on how transfer credits are evaluated by EFSC's Registrar's office.

Follow the steps below as you plan your transfer to EFSC – and once you get through Step 2 and are accepted, you can take care of many of the next steps simultaneously to keep the process moving. Reviewing all the steps now so you are familiar with the complete enrollment process helps it go more smoothly.

Steps to Admission

Explore deadlines, programs & campuses.

EFSC has a rolling admissions process, which means we accept new transfer students year-round and process applications at any time.

We set priority deadlines to give you ample time to complete any admissions follow-up requirements so you can move on to the course registration phase sooner when more classes are available.

We continue to process applications after the recommended priority deadline, so apply at any time.

Before you start the online application, you want to have a program chosen that supports your career and educational goals. Eastern Florida offers a variety of degree and certificate programs designed to help you transfer to a bachelor program at EFSC or another college or go directly into the workforce.

Use our Programs A-Z page to check out all the options.

Our Career Centers also are a resource during this stage of planning and throughout your college experience as they offer free career interest assessments.

It's also a good idea to think about which of EFSC's four campuses you want to consider your main campus — or are you interested in a fully online program through Eastern Florida Online?

If you're not familiar with EFSC, consider signing up for a Campus Tour as you plan, plus we have lots of specialized enrollment events you can explore.

Apply for admission & provide residency proof.

As you get ready to apply, you can visit our EFSC Programs and their Admission Requirements page in the catalog to review each program's placement testing requirements, whether it's eligible for financial aid, and if it requires an additional application process because of being a limited access program.

Note: if you are an International Transfer student, follow the steps for International Students.

It's time to apply using our easy online application. You can start an application, save it, and come back and finish it later if you need to so get started now.

EFSC Online Application

There's a one-time, non-refundable $30 application fee that you can pay online by credit card or in person by cash or check. If paying in person you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to pay the fee at a Campus Student Accounts Office.

Please note that application processing can take up to 14 days due to the current volume of applications. Check your email frequently for your acceptance letter.

For determining residency that impacts your tuition rates, the Florida Residency Guidelines, will walk you through the process and required Declaration. This same Declaration is used by non-Florida residents to declare that classification. Be sure to follow up and submit the residency supporting documents either in person or through our online Student Dropbox. (Don't stress: all the info you need is on that Residency page, plus you can contact the Admissions Team if you have questions).

Complete your accepted student requirements & submit all H.S. & previous college transcripts.

Your acceptance email and letter will clearly outline any remaining admissions requirements and include information on how to access the myEFSC Student Portal, a key online tool as you submit any required admissions documents and during your time as a student. Our Accepted Students page also has clear guidance on how to complete and outstanding requirements.

For a transfer student, getting all your transcripts submitted to EFSC in a timely manner is critical.

A final, official High School transcript indicating date of graduation, GED® transcript or Homeschool Graduation Affidavit is required for registration into college courses. Florida public high school transcripts should be sent electronically when possible. If an official transcript must be mailed from your school, ask that they be sent to the EFSC campus you consider your primary campus. See the Accepted Students page for more on how to complete this requirement.

If you attended high school outside of the United States, see more information on international high school transcript evaluation.

Final, official college transcripts must come directly from the sending institution and be sent to the EFSC Registrar's Office.

  • If the institution sends transcripts electronically, please request that they be sent to registrar@easternflorida.edu
  • If the institution only sends paper transcripts, have it sent to Office of the Registrar, Eastern Florida State College, 1519 Clearlake Rd, Cocoa, FL 32922.
  • See more about the process of sending college transcripts to EFSC.

Note: A transcript with courses in progress is not considered a final transcript. Transcripts sent from the student will not be considered as official.

Complete orientation, apply for financial aid & determine if you need placement testing.

Online orientation is required for all transfer students who have not earned an associate degree or higher. It’s an introduction to life at Eastern Florida. Learn how to access our online orientation system.

Once you’ve been accepted as an Eastern Florida student, you should start the process of applying for financial aid – and you must reapply each year. Every EFSC student should apply because the only way to find out if you’re eligible is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Explore our Financial Aid section for more information about financial aid and scholarships — and the steps for applying.

As a transfer student, you may or may not need Placement Testing to assess your readiness for college. An Academic Advisor can review this with you, plus help you develop an educational plan before you schedule classes, and address other academic concerns. Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor every term to monitor progress.

Academic advising is available in the Student Services Center on all campuses on a walk-in basis or by appointment. It's easy to make an appointment through EFSC's Navigate tool that's accessed from inside the myEFSC Student Services portal.

If you’ve taken the SAT/ACT and your scores are less than two years old or if you’ve completed college level English and math courses with a grade of “C” or higher, have your official test score reports and/or official transcripts sent to your primary campus.

In working with an advisor, if it's determined that you do need placement testing or specialized admissions testing for a limited access program, Eastern Florida offers College-Credit placement testing, including the PERT and ACCUPLACER, and Vocational Program testing such as the TABE and TEAS, which you can explore in our Testing Services section.

Register for classes, get your Student ID, parking decal & books.
  • Registering for classes online is the easiest way to go if you do not have any holds on your account. Visit the Class Schedule for current course listings.
  • Check out the Student Accounts section for information on paying fees by the deadline.
  • Student ID cards are available at any EFSC Campus Security Office for free by presenting your class registration and a photo ID. This ID also will be your library card and replacing a lost card costs $10.
  • A Student Parking Permit is required to park on any EFSC Campus. The decal cost varies by term. Getting the permit involves a two-step process to generate a temporary permit online and then pick up the permit at your campus security office.
  • EFSC Bookstores are your source for required textbooks and course materials. Most EFSC courses are automatically part of the Titan First Day Ready program, designed to save students money. At least 30 days before the first day of class each term, the Bookstore will send an email with instructions on how to verify your course materials list, arrange pickup or delivery, or opt out and obtain materials yourself. Check with Financial Aid about help paying for books through what's known as a Book Voucher if you qualify.
