EMT Accepted Student Requirements
Health Related
All students accepted in the Emergency Medical Technician ATD program will be required to submit a completed physical exam form prior to entrance into a clinical agency for the coursework's clinical hours.
Physical Exam forms will be made available only to those students accepted into the program.
Insurance Requirements
All accepted students are required to purchase and are covered by the Allied Health Liability Insurance and also the Education/Training Student Accident Insurance through EFSC. The cost of this insurance coverage is included in course fees. This policy will cover students during their training.
Background Check/Drug Screen
All accepted students must have completed a criminal background check and any required screening. This is handled for the EMT program by the Brevard Police Testing and Selection Center. The acceptance letter will explain the process.
Failure to complete these steps will result in forfeiture of your spot in the class.
Per state regulations, if you have been convicted of a felony you may not be eligible for state certification. To be sure, contact the state office of EMS at 1-850-245-4440.
Review Student Handbook
The Emergency Medical Services Student Handbook is divided into three (3) parts. The first summarizes general Eastern Florida State College information. The second section highlights the administrative or programmatic portion of the EMS Department. The third section on academics relates to all things in the classroom, lab, and while performing clinical rotations.
