The intent of Allied Health Professional Liability Student Insurance is to provide coverage for any acts or omissions by Eastern Florida State College students in the context of furnishing professional healthcare services and in other programs, such as teacher education, as designated by the college.
Coverage provided through this liability insurance certificate protects students from claims made against them by a third party for bodily injury or property damage resulting from the student’s clinical practice. View the Allied Health Liability overview flyer.
Allied Health Student Insurance provides professional liability (malpractice) coverage for allied health students who are pursuing a degree or certificate in a healthcare profession that leads to licensure or certification to provide some form of health care to the public.
Who is Covered
Students enrolled in allied health sciences courses and other programs designated by the college, such as teacher education at EFSC, are named insureds under the policy, but only while students are participating in activities that are part of and a requirement of their curriculum at the College. The policy is a blanket policy for those enrolled in a program of study leading to a degree or certificate in a healthcare profession (nursing, physical therapist assistant, etc.) and other programs as designated by the college such as teacher education. It covers all coursework, as long as it is required by the program curriculum.
In addition, faculty members who teach in these programs are covered, but only with respect to claims arising out of their supervision and instruction of students in these programs. Please Note: Faculty coverage is limited to supervision and instruction of students only. The policy does not provide coverage for a faculty member’s malpractice.
Continuing Education Allied Health Student Insurance provides professional liability (malpractice) coverage for students in continuing education programs. These courses may be taken to enhance a student's current professional status or to brush up on skills in preparation for the state board exam.
Who is Covered
Students enrolled in allied health continuing education courses at the College are named insureds. The policy is a blanket policy for those who have already completed a basic program of study and are returning for refresher courses (usually single-term enrollment).
Continuing education coverage is in excess of any other valid and collectible insurance or coverage provided by the student or the student's employer.
In addition, faculty members who teach in these programs are covered, but only with respect to claims arising out of their supervision and instruction of students in these programs. Please Note: Faculty coverage is limited to supervision and instruction of students only. The policy does not provide coverage for a faculty member’s malpractice.
