Meeting with Your EFSC Advisor: Before & After Tips

Meeting with your advisor means your course registration hold should be removed. Registering online is easiest and gives you the convenience to adjust your schedule yourself.

✔ Start with the How to Register Online YouTube video. You can also review the class registration steps PDF. This informative guide includes photos, and teaches you how to add and drop classes.

✔ Review Registration Terminology: master the jargon so the process makes more sense.

✔ Learn how to read Course Listings.

✔ Use the Class Schedule Search to identify courses. (Remember to make note of the CRN: Course Registration Number)

✔ Go over Course Delivery Methods so you know which type of courses you prefer: on-campus, online, hybrid, or a combination of multiple types.

✔ Check the registration dates and deadlines and get other helpful how-to tips.

When you're ready, log in to the myEFSC Portal, and use the registration section of Titan Web to build your schedule!

✔ Be sure you've explored all the financial aid and scholarship options to help pay for your classes.

✔ The EFSC Student Accounts Offices handle payments, which you can do online 24/7, by mail or on campus.

✔ Be sure you know the payment deadlines for your term and don't miss them. Registering by the fee due date also lets you avoid a late registraton fee.

✔ Avoid being dropped from a course for non-payment. Review the tuition payment policies as reinstatement of dropped courses is not guaranteed. Classes that you originally registered for, may be full and you may be unable to get the same schedule. This is especially important during Add/Drop week each team. If you intend to drop a class, and do not do so by the deadline to drop and have fees adjusted, you are financially responsible for the course tuition and fees. Contact student accounts if you have any questions about payments.

✔ Your EFSC student ID is also your College Library Card. Visit the Student Identification Card page for details on how to get a free card at any Campus Security Office.

✔ Purchase your Parking Decal online and pick it  up from a Campus Security Office. Get details on the parking permit process. Note: Information about Fall Term and 2021-2022 Academic Year parking permits will be posted there soon.

The EFSC Bookstores offer on-campus and online services, including new, rental, and online textbook and course materials.

✔ Find and purchase the materials required for your course using the "Find Textbooks" online search. The tool is updated at least 45 days before the start of each term.

✔ Depending on your Financial Aid Package, you could qualify for an EFSC Book Voucher, which the bookstores can access to pay for your materials.

✔ Your course may be part of the Titan First Day Ready program, a textbook savings program that provides discounted course materials access through the Canvas Learning Managment System.

✔ Did you know our Bookstores are a partnership with Barnes and Noble's College division? That means you can redeem Barnes and Noble gift cards at EFSC Bookstores.

✔ Before you can access the Canvas Learning Managment System (LMS) you need to complete the required orientation session online. First-time users can access their new Canvas accounts at least two weeks before the term begins. Get more details on how to access Canvas orientation.

✔ As an EFSC student, you have the ability to download the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus desktop applications for use on up to five desktop and/or mobile devices at no cost. These applications include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access and Publisher. Set this up now so you're ready to use these free technology resources to complete your assignments.

Getting started in classes — and being successful — is the payoff for your intentional approach to advising and all the follow-up.

✔ Be sure to check the important term dates so you know when all your classes start.

✔ Log in to the myEFSC Portal and view your detailed schedule. On the landing page you will see your courses listed in the areas with blue headings that say "Course Schedule" and also "Registration." Here are tips to what the listed formats mean and a guide to abbreviations that you will see in the smaller Registration section.

FF = Face to Face for courses planned for on-campus delivery at the location and time listed.

Hy = Hybrid for courses with both online and on-campus components.

On = Online Course is the traditional Eastern Florida Online classes without a specific day or time listed, with coursework done when it's convenient for you, by the deadline in Canvas.

✔ You can also add the Titan Mobile app to your phone and view your schedule there anytime once you're logged in.

✔ Don't get withdrawn from a course for non-attendance! Your instructor will share attendance expectations in the syllabus and be sure you follow the EFSC attendance guidelines.

✔ Stay on top of your grades and your GPA. Again, the myEFSC Portal is the place to see your grades when they're posted after final exams each term. You can also use the myGPS degree audit tool to track your grades and progress toward earning your degree or certificate.

You've got this — remember your advisor is a partner in your academic success. Schedule additional advising sessions when you need them, especially before registration opens or when you want advice about courses or prerequisites for a bachelor's degree. Careful planning, with an advisor's help, is the key.
