Money-Back Guarantee Program
The Money-Back Guarantee Program is a tuition refund initiative under Florida Statute 1011.803 offering support to students who are not employed within six months after successfully completing eligible workforce education programs. Eastern Florida State College has identified the following programs as eligible for the Money-Back Guarantee Program:
- Nursing RN, Associate in Science degree
- Aerospace Technology, Associate in Science degree
- Welding Technology, Career and Technical Certificate
Student Eligibility Criteria
A student is considered eligible if they are unable to obtain employment in the occupation in which the student was trained within six months of successful completion of the eligible program. Upon meeting all eligibility requirements, participants of the Money-Back Guarantee Program may request a tuition refund for out-of-pocket resident tuition not to include lab fees, uniform fees, student activity fees, financial aid fees, testing and examination fees, insurance, or other fees or expenses, such as textbooks.
Students who would like to participate must apply for this program no later than 240 days (6 months of job searching plus 60 days to apply for the program) after the date the eligible degree or certificate is conferred on the student’s transcript. Additionally, students cannot be enrolled in an upper-level stackable program or continuing coursework in an advanced degree.
Student Attendance
Students must be continuously enrolled full-time (as defined by the program) throughout the duration of the program and meet the program’s enrollment verification standards each term. Students must meet minimum attendance requirements as specified by the program of study.
Student Program Performance
- Students must successfully complete all program requirements of the eligible program.
- Students must remain in good academic standing throughout the duration of the program.
- Students must pass all credential and licensure exams associated with the program and those required for employment in the field within six months after graduation.
- Students must be in good financial standing with EFSC.
Career Service or Career Day Attendance
Students must provide verifiable documentation that reflects participation in career service or career fair participation while enrolled in the College or during the six months following graduation.
Participation in Internship, Work-based Learning, Clinical, or Practicum
As applicable, students must provide verifiable documentation of satisfactory participation in an internship, work-based learning, clinical, or practicum related to the degree for which the guarantee is being considered.
Job Search Documentation
- Student must be legally eligible for employment within the U.S.
- Student must not have a criminal background that prevents employment within the career field.
- Student must successfully pass background checks and drug screenings as required by prospective employers.
- Student must provide verifiable documentation that they have worked with their local CareerSource office and EFSC Career Services to search for employment in the field of interest.
- Student must demonstrate through verifiable documentation they have been actively searching for in-field employment for at least six months from the date of program completion. This documentation must be verifiable and provide evidence of at least 60 job search company applications and 20 good faith interviews related to the occupation(s) associated with their eligible program of study. Documentation may include letters, screenshots, or emails confirming the application submission, invitation to interview, and/or notice of non-selection.
Development of Student Career Plan with the EFSC Services Office
- Students must provide verifiable documentation as evidence of the creation of, and adherence to, a career plan in conjunction with the EFSC Career Services Office.
- Students must provide documentation that they have met with the EFSC Career Services Office within three months of completing the program of study and completed the following actions: resume building, job search assistance, and interview preparation.
