Eastern Florida State College regularly holds contests and drawings to give current students a chance to win cool prizes. Explore the list below for eligibility requirements, deadlines, how to enter, and more information about each promotion.

15th Annual Creative Writing Prose Contest

ELIGIBILITY

The 15th Annual Creative Writing Prose Contest (the "Contest") is open to currently enrolled Eastern Florida State College students who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry (or who submit a signed parent/guardian consent and release form). Employees of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible to win.

CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest begins on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 8:00 AM ET and ends on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 11:59 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

HOW TO ENTER

To enter, students should:

Email one work of fiction or narrative non-fiction to Elaine Fowler during the Contest Period. Write PROSE CONTEST SUBMISSION in the subject line, include the cover page and story in the body of the email, and attach the entry as a Word document.

Formatting Requirements

  1. Entries should be no longer than 1,000 words, double-spaced and in a standard 12-point font.
  2. Include a cover page with your name, phone number, B number, the title of your work, and the genre (fiction or non-fiction).
  3. Include only the title and genre in the header of all subsequent pages.

Each entrant is only eligible to win one (1) prize throughout the duration of the Contest, regardless of method of entry. Data pertaining to all entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

WINNER SELECTION

On or around Wednesday, October 19, 2022, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with any judging criteria (language, style, originality, and adherence to the formatting requirements) from among all eligible entries. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via video conference, social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around Monday, October 24, 2022. If the potential winner(s) cannot be contacted within five (5) days, the Sponsor may select alternate potential winner(s) from among the remaining eligible entries. Any prize having a total announced value of $5,000 or more must be offered in strict compliance with §849.094, Florida Statutes.

PRIZE(S)

Eligible winners will receive:

  • 1st Place: Prize Package (Writing journal, Writing Guide Book, and EFSC Swag) - $100 Value, 1 Available

Prize retail value may differ at the time of award. The specifics of the prize(s) will be solely determined by the Sponsor. No cash or other prize substitution(s) will be permitted, except at the Sponsor's discretion. All prizes are non-transferable and subject to income tax. Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation, any and all federal, state, and/or local income taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of the winner. Any winner of a prize valued in excess of $600 at the time of award must provide his or her social security number, EIN, or TIN to Eastern Florida State College and shall receive an IRS Form 1099. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for the Sponsor to use a winner's name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and promotion without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.

All prizes must be picked up in the Palm Bay Campus Library, Bldg. 2, Rm. 230 (250 Community College Parkway, Palm Bay, FL 32909) within ten (10) days from the time of award notification.

Titusville Campus Haunted Readings Costume Contest

ELIGIBILITY

The Titusville Campus Haunted Readings Costume Contest (the "Contest") is open to currently enrolled Eastern Florida State College students who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry (or who submit a signed parent/guardian consent and release form). Employees of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible to win.

CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest begins on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 6:00 PM ET and ends on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 8:00 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

HOW TO ENTER

To enter, students should attend the Titusville Campus Haunted Readings event in costume during the Contest Period and sign up to participate in the Contest.

Each entrant is only eligible to win one (1) prize throughout the duration of the Contest, regardless of method of entry. Data pertaining to all entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

WINNER SELECTION

On or around Wednesday, October 26, 2022, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with any judging criteria (creativity, execution, and resourcefulness) from among all eligible entries. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via video conference, social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around Wednesday, October 26, 2022. If the potential winner(s) cannot be contacted within five (5) days, the Sponsor may select alternate potential winner(s) from among the remaining eligible entries. Any prize having a total announced value of $5,000 or more must be offered in strict compliance with §849.094, Florida Statutes.

ELIGIBILITY

The Cocoa Campus '80s Slashback Fest Costume Contest (the "Contest") is open to currently enrolled Eastern Florida State College students who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry (or who submit a signed parent/guardian consent and release form). Employees of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible to win.

The Contest begins on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 7:00 PM ET and ends on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 9:00 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

HOW TO ENTER

To enter, students should attend the Cocoa Campus '80s Slashback Fest event in costume during the Contest Period and sign up to participate in the Contest.

To enter, students should attend the Cocoa Campus '80s Slashback Fest event during the Contest Period and sign up (first-come, first-served) at the Musical Chairs Competition registration table.

Each entrant is only eligible to win one (1) prize throughout the duration of the Contest, regardless of method of entry. Data pertaining to all entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

WINNER SELECTION

On or around Friday, October 28, 2022, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with any judging criteria (last person to successfully claim a seat) from among all eligible entries. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The EFSC Annual Programming Competition (the "Contest") is open to currently enrolled Eastern Florida State College students who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry (or who submit a signed parent/guardian consent and release form). Employees of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible to win.

CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest begins on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 8:00 AM ET and ends on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

HOW TO ENTER

To enter, students should sign up online prior to the start of the event, which will be held on the Melbourne Campus on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Each entrant is only eligible to win one (1) prize throughout the duration of the Contest. Data pertaining to all entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

WINNER SELECTION

On or around Friday, November 4, 2022, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with any judging criteria (most correct answers in the least amount of time) from among all eligible entries. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via video conference, social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around Friday, November 4, 2022.
