Promotions at EFSC

Eligibility

The Women's History Month Speech Competition (the "Contest") is open to currently enrolled Eastern Florida State College students taking at least one class who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry (or who submit a signed parent/guardian consent and release form). Employees (including student employees) of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible to win.

Contest Period

The Contest begins on 03/01/2025 at 12:00 AM ET and ends on 03/27/2025 at 06:30 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

How to Enter

To enter the Contest, eligible students should do the following during the Contest Period:

Submit a speech outline through the self-enrolled Canvas Shell by 5 PM on March 11th. After submission, participants are required to prepare a speech presentation lasting between four to four and a half minutes. The speech should focus on a woman, either from the past or present, who has dedicated their lives to education, mentorship, and leadership. Each presentation must include at least one image to complement the speech. Participants can use PowerPoint or a similar software to present their visuals. The completed speech and visuals must also be uploaded to the Canvas Shell.

The contest will be held on Thursday, March 27 on the Melbourne Campus from 5 to 6:30 PM, participants are required to attend.

Each entrant is only eligible to win one (1) prize throughout the duration of the Contest, regardless of method of entry. Data pertaining to all entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

Winner Selection

On 03/27/2025 at 06:30 PM ET, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with the judging criteria (Introduction (20 points), Body (20 points), Conclusion (20 points), Delivery (20 points), Timing (10 points), Topic (10 points)) from among all eligible entries in the following location: Melbourne Campus, Bldg. 4, Auditorium. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via video conference, social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around 03/27/2025. If the potential winner(s) cannot be contacted within five (5) days, the Sponsor may select alternate potential winner(s) from among the remaining eligible entries. Any prize having a total announced value of $5,000 or more must be offered in strict compliance with §849.094, Florida Statutes.

Prize(s)

Each eligible winner will receive one prize from among the following:

Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation, any and all federal, state, and/or local income taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of the winner. Any winner of a prize valued in excess of $600 at the time of award must provide their social security number, EIN, or TIN to Eastern Florida State College and shall receive an IRS Form 1099. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for the Sponsor to use a winner's name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and promotion without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.

Take part in a Women's History Month Kahoot Game at 12:05 PM in Bldg. 3 of the Titusville Campus. There will be a fours games played in total, with one game played each day. The questions will change daily to ensure fairness across playing groups.

Each entrant is only eligible to win one (1) prize throughout the duration of the Contest, regardless of method of entry. Data pertaining to all entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

Winner Selection

On 03/27/2025 at 12:15 PM ET, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with the judging criteria (Points Scored) from among all eligible entries in the following location: Titusville Campus, Bldg. 3, Rm. 133 (Titan Hall). The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via video conference, social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around 03/27/2025. If the potential winner(s) cannot be contacted within five (5) days, the Sponsor may select alternate potential winner(s) from among the remaining eligible entries. Any prize having a total announced value of $5,000 or more must be offered in strict compliance with §849.094, Florida Statutes.

Employees (including student employees) of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible to win.

Contest Period

The Contest begins on 03/03/2025 at 11:00 AM ET and ends on 04/30/2025 at 09:00 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

How to Enter

To enter the Contest, eligible individuals should do the following during the Contest Period:

Interested persons must submit their original artwork to the Titusville Campus Library front desk (Bldg.  5) during normal operating hours, Mondays through Thursdays, between 8 AM and 5 PM before the Tuesday, April 22, 2025 deadline. This annual art show is open to all EFSC students, faculty, staff, and Brevard County Residents.

Children's Artwork - please mount all artwork onto a foam, matte, or poster board prior to dropping it off. Artwork must not exceed ten pounds in weight.
Adult Artwork - all artwork must be display-ready. For two-dimensional pieces ensure that it is framed, wired or matted. Artwork must not exceed ten pounds in weight.
Categories/Mediums - drawings, paintings, sculptures, photography, mixed media, and digital art.

Each entrant is only eligible to win one (1) prize throughout the duration of the Contest, regardless of method of entry. Data pertaining to all entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

Winner Selection

On 04/30/2025 at 09:00 PM ET, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with the judging criteria (Originality and Mastery of the medium used) from among all eligible entries in the following location: Titusville Campus, Bldg. 5, Library. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via video conference, social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around 04/30/2025. If the potential winner(s) cannot be contacted within five (5) days, the Sponsor may select alternate potential winner(s) from among the remaining eligible entries. Any prize having a total announced value of $5,000 or more must be offered in strict compliance with §849.094, Florida Statutes.

Prize(s)

Each eligible winner will receive one prize from among the following:

- All children's submissions will receive a ribbon.
- Adult Submissions: the top three in each category/medium will receive a ribbon.

Prize retail value may differ at the time of award. The specifics of the prize(s), which is/are funded by the Campus Libraries, will be solely determined by the Sponsor. No cash or other prize substitution(s) will be permitted, except at the Sponsor's discretion. All prizes are non-transferable and subject to income tax. Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation, any and all federal, state, and/or local income taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of the winner. Any winner of a prize valued in excess of $600 at the time of award must provide their social security number, EIN, or TIN to Eastern Florida State College and shall receive an IRS Form 1099. The Contest begins on 03/03/2025 at 12:00 AM ET and ends on 04/23/2025 at 09:30 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

To enter the Contest, eligible students should do the following during the Contest Period:

Use the sign up sheet located on the door of in Bldg. 2 Rm. 225 on the Palm Bay Campus. Students can also enter by emailing Rachel Rhinehart or Elaine Fowler by the April 22nd deadline.

Please note that there is a special category and judging for Earth Day Poems.

On 04/23/2025 at 08:30 PM ET, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with the judging criteria (Five random student judges will rank each poem 1 - 10, with 10 being the highest, based on content, poetic elements, and delivery (projection and enthusiasm) the total of these points will determine the winners.) from among all eligible entries in the following location: Palm Bay Campus, Bldg. 1, Rm. 107 (Auditorium). The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via video conference, social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around 04/23/2025. If the potential winner(s) cannot be contacted within five (5) days, the Sponsor may select alternate potential winner(s) from among the remaining eligible entries. Any prize having a total announced value of $5,000 or more must be offered in strict compliance with §849.094, Florida Statutes.

Employees (including student employees) of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible to win.

The Contest begins on 03/12/2025 at 08:00 AM ET and ends on 04/05/2025 at 03:00 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

To enter the Contest, eligible students should do the following during the Contest Period:

Sign up through the RSVP system in EFSC's digital calendar. Be sure to include your partner’s name in the registrant comments section, or let us know if you need one. While we will do our best to pair solo players, we cannot guarantee a partner will be available. Digital sign-ups close on Sunday, March 30, 2025, but day-of sign-ups will still be eligible to play based on space availability.

Students can also sign up online by emailing the Melbourne Campus Office of Student Life.

All participants must fill out EFSC’s liability waiver form (PDF) before competing. Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the form. Waivers will also be available at the event for signing.

New to pickleball? Games are played on a small court using a paddle and a perforated plastic ball. Points are scored when the opposing side faults, such as hitting the ball out of bounds or failing to return a shot.
