Eastern Florida State College's Casey Covel was recognized at the 2024 Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) Annual Meeting and Conference, earning an Award of Excellence for her efforts with the College’s Splash of the Titans blog.

The winning piece, entitled “So You Want To Give a TED Talk,” was posted to the EFSC blog to give advice to students about public speaking and presentations.

The AFC Awards of Excellence Competition is hosted annually by the Communications and Marketing Commission and provides local communications professionals with a statewide platform to highlight outstanding communication tools and programs.

Judging is completed by a combination of industry experts and public relations professionals from throughout the state college system who look for creativity, originality, effectiveness, and relevance to the category guidelines.

Covel has worked at EFSC for more than seven years and recently joined the College’s Office of Collegewide Communication as the Assistant Manager of Web and Social Media.

“This recognition is well deserved, and we are immensely proud of Casey,” said college president Dr. Jim Richey. “EFSC has a communications office rich with talent and a strong commitment to building the College’s brand and ensuring student success. We look forward to watching Casey grow in her new role with web and social media.”
