The Performing Arts Department at Eastern Florida State College recently received statewide recognition and a Superior Ranking from the Florida College System (FCS) Activities Association’s Theatre Division Respondent Program for the EFSC Theatre Program’s performance of "From Tom to Tennessee" by Tennessee Williams.

Directed by Theatre Instructor Selena Ambush, the play is composed of select one-acts about family relationships, youth and aging as well as the challenges of identity. Some of the selections included: “This Property is Condemned,” “Mister Paradise,” “Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen,” and “Summer at the Lake.”

Kelly Warren, Executive Director of the FCS Activity Association said, “The play was reviewed by theatre professional Althea Wilson who thought the actors seemed to embrace the poetry of Tennessee Williams and worked it seamlessly into the troubled and gritty existence of their characters’ real lives.”

In addition, she lauded Ambush, saying, “Ms. Ambush created a believable and intriguing world. She wove a tapestry of pieces full of psychological and emotional depth into a varied and colorful spirit.”
