EFSC Earns Honors at State Conference
December 14, 2021
The Eastern Florida State College Chapter of the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) received recognition at the recent AFC Annual Conference, with honors related to the development of EFSC employees and programs to better serve students.
Awards during the meeting and conference, which was held virtually due to the pandemic, included:
- Two Gold Awards of Excellence in Marketing and Communications for the collaborative work of EFSC’s Communications, Student Recruitment and Enrollment Marketing teams. The awards were given for specialized marketing materials targeting high school seniors in the “Digital Publication” and “Direct Mail Recruiting Material” categories.
- EFSC’s Sonography Program was a 2nd place winner for AFC’s Technology Commission’s Exemplary Practice Award for the presentation “Our Job is to Give You What You Want”.
Christine Tripp, EFSC’s Associate Dean of Enrollment Management, was recognized for her service as AFC’s outgoing 2021 state Vice President for Regions & Chapters.
“Serving on this Executive Committee at the state-level the last two years in the midst of a pandemic has certainly had its challenges, said Tripp.
“Serving our members has been my honor. The amount of engagement and professional development we have provided the employees of our great college system while navigating this virtual environment has been astounding.”
Tripp was also named 2021’s “Outstanding Board Member” by AFC 2021 President Ray Coulter of Palm Beach State College.
Dr. Harry Holdorf, Associate Professor, was named the Unsung Hero for the EFSC Chapter and received an award from fellow members and state leaders.
“An unsung hero is someone who takes initiative and goes above and beyond to make things happen. This is a trait of Dr. Harry Holdorf,” Tripp said during the regional meeting at the conference.
Dr. Holdorf was also the first from EFSC to graduate from the inaugural class of AFC’s Next Level Leadership Program (NLLP).
The program is designed to provide next-level leadership principles that today’s community college professionals can put into practice on a day-to-day basis. It builds upon the Florida College Professional Certificate (FCPC) Program, which Holdorf graduated from in 2016.
