The Eastern Florida State College Foundation has received a $38,608 donation that will be used to provide more scholarships to students.

“This contribution is going to pay big dividends in the lives of our students,” said Richey. “It’s very important and we’re grateful to the Florida College System Foundation for its support.”

The awards were in three areas:

  • The Helios Education Foundation First Generation Scholarship for first generation college students: $17,166
  • Bank of America, also for first generation college students: $6,628
  • The Florida Blue Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship for students pursuing careers in the nursing or the healthcare fields: $14,814

Together, the awards will help more than 50 students achieve their goals.

Dr. Thomas Furlong, a member of the FCSF Board of Directors, presented the check for the scholarships during a meeting of the EFSC Foundation Board of Directors.

The Florida College System Foundation has been providing student scholarships to Florida's 28 state colleges since 1999. It awarded more than $1 million total in the last academic year.
