Coronavirus Travel Restrictions for Florida College System, EFSC Announced
March 3, 2020
Following guidance from Gov. Ron DeSantis and State Surgeon General Dr. Scott Rivkees, all members of the Florida College System that includes Eastern Florida State College have been asked to take the following immediate action on the coronavirus outbreak:
- All employees and students who return from travel to China, Iran, Italy, Japan and South Korea should self-isolate and not return to campus for 14 days after their return.
- All college-sponsored travel to those countries, such as Study Abroad programs, should be canceled.
- EFSC had previously taken action on this matter, canceling its Study Abroad program to China shortly after the coronavirus outbreak was reported there. Other EFSC Study Aboard programs in Japan, Europe and Africa may also be canceled, with the Italy portion of the European trip already canceled as well.
- EFSC has a Pandemic Health Management Plan in place that would be activated if needed upon direction from state and county health officials. All students and college employees would be informed of the plan at that time.
The college will continue to carefully monitor the coronavirus through the Brevard County Health Department and Florida Department of Health and provide further guidance to all students and employees as needed.
