Eastern Florida Ready to Help ITT Students Seeking Transfers

September 8, 2016

Eastern Florida State College is prepared to assist students from ITT Technical Institutes seeking to transfer following Tuesday’s closure of ITT campuses nationwide.

EFSC will hold an Information Session for former ITT students on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. on the Cocoa Campus in the EFSC-UCF Library (Building 12), Room 228.

During the session students with ITT credits can learn about:

  • Information on the transfer process
  • Instructions on getting transcripts evaluated by EFSC
  • An overview of career planning services available at no cost

"As a state college, we're open to everyone and will gladly help them if they’re interested in coming here," said Dr. Linda Miedema, EFSC’s Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and Chief Learning Officer.

“That includes taking a look at each transcript and determining credit for possible transfer into our programs. We want to see them continue their education at Eastern Florida if they can.”

Visit easternflorida.edu/go/infosession to RSVP for the Information Session. You can also call 321-433-5497 with questions or to RSVP.

Session attendees can also attend an application and financial aid "Open Lab" for students needing assistance with completing an admissions application or FAFSA. The Lab is open to anyone interested in that process from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 in Cocoa Campus, Building 12, Room 131.

ITT students seeking information also can visit easternflorida.edu/go/transfer or call (321) 632-1111.

ITT’s shutdown came shortly after the U.S. Education Department — citing financial instability and the likely loss of accreditation — barred its parent company from enrolling new students using federal financial aid funds.

The for-profit college had campuses in Orlando and other Florida cities. About 40,000 ITT students nationwide have been affected by the closure.
