Eastern Florida Performing Arts Department to Present Constitution Day Play
August 31, 2016
The Eastern Florida State College Performing and Visual Arts Department Acting 1 class will present the play "Information" on September 13 and 14 to commemorate Constitution Day.
The production also supports the National Green Dot Initiative to prevent violence and contains mature language and content. In this play, college students discuss rape, sexual assault and power abuse on the campus of a small college. A discussion session with a panel of topic experts will follow the play.
Performances will be held on the Cocoa Campus in the Simpkins Fine Arts Center, Studio Theatre (Bldg. 4) and are scheduled for Tuesday, September 13 at 7 PM and Wednesday, September 14 at 9:30 AM.
The free performances are in honor of the annual observance of the adoption of the U.S. Constitution that was signed on September 17, 1787 and then later amended, first through the Bill of Rights. Federal law requires that all educational institutions that receive federal funds commemorate the celebration in some way.
Green Dot is a national organization that focuses on ways to reduce personal violence. The initiative at Eastern Florida State College is funded by the Florida Department of Health in partnership with The Women's Center in Brevard and includes bystander training workshops for EFSC students, faculty and staff.
