Eastern Florida State College Helps Women Return to the Workforce

May 10, 2016 - Eastern Florida State College, a sub-grantee of the SIF program under a grant provided from the Corporation for National and Community Service to the AARP Foundation, the charitable affiliate of AARP, is pairing once again with Career Source Brevard to help train women age 50+ with new job skills and help them get jobs.
The BACK TO WORK 50+ Women’s Economic Stability Initiative will hold a Smart Strategies Workshop on Wednesday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the EFSC Melbourne Campus, 3865 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne in the Bldg. 4 Auditorium.

The program, which involves partners such as Career Source Brevard, has helped about 350 women since it began last year, providing job skills and information to help participants make sound financial decisions that can lead to greater financial stability.
Some 151 job candidates have been selected for the Coaching and Training Program. It includes motivational support, one-on-one job search coaching, taking classes at EFSC to earn two-year degrees and participating in “Ready to Work” certificate programs.
To date, 27 job candidates have completed the program and gained employment.
