EFSC Among Top Florida Colleges for Online Programs

February 17, 2016

Highly popular online learning programs at Eastern Florida State College have been named among the best in the state.

The honor comes from Accredited Schools Online, which ranked Eastern Florida third in the 28-member Florida College System in its 2016 Best Online Colleges review.

The organization said EFSC courses are easily accessible and challenging because “they are put together and taught by the same instructors who teach traditional classes.”

Dr. Linda Miedema, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Learning Officer, said the ranking reflects the college’s strong commitment to online learning.

“Online classes provide the convenience and flexibility that many of our students need to continue their education and graduate, especially those who are juggling jobs and families,” she said.

“They’re essential to helping students succeed and we’ll continue adding more to give students the academic options that fit them the best.”

The college has significantly expanded its online programs the past three years and now offers more than 550 online courses.

More than 5,800 students are currently enrolled in online courses with nearly 80 percent of Bachelor’s Degree students taking online classes.

Seven degrees and 10 certificate programs are now available entirely online, including three Bachelor Degree tracks in General Business, Health Care Management and Advanced Allied Health.

An Associate in Arts Degree can also be earned online along with Associate in Science Degrees in Office Administration, Business Administration and Criminal Justice Technology.

More Bachelor Degrees that can be earned totally online are planned to start in summer and fall this year.
