Eastern Florida Graduates Ready to Receive Diplomas

December 7, 2015

More than 1,200 students will be eligible to receive their diplomas Dec. 17 during fall commencement ceremonies at Eastern Florida State College.

The students will walk across the stage at the King Center for the Performing Arts on the Melbourne campus with families and friends in attendance.

Among them will be Chelsea Woodhouse, who will earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Advanced Allied Health.

Woodhouse, an Army veteran who served in Afghanistan, previously earned her Associate’s Degree at the college and wants to become a nurse practitioner.

“It’s probably one of the best programs around, and this degree is going to really help me in my career,” she said.

Another graduate will be David Perez, who will receive an Associate in Arts Degree.

He plans to attend to the University of Central Florida to major in finance and ultimately earn a Master’s Degree in business administration to help manage his family’s coffee-importing business.

“The teachers here have been great. They’re always there to help you when you need it,” said Perez.

There will be two graduation ceremonies Dec. 17:

  • The first will start at noon with graduates from the Titusville and Cocoa campuses.
  • The second will start at 3:30 p.m. with graduates from the Melbourne and Palm Bay campuses.

Doors to the King Center will open one hour before each ceremony with free seating on a first-come, first-serve basis. No tickets are required.

Both ceremonies will be televised live on WEFS-TV and streamed live on the college’s livestream.

Graduates, families and friends are encouraged to share photos and memories via social media using the hashtag #efscgrad.

The graduates will join more than 95,000 others who have graduated from the college since it began in 1960. It was known as Brevard Community College before its name was changed in 2013.

In all, Eastern Florida offers more than 100 degrees and certificate programs including Bachelor Degrees, Associate Degrees and Certificate Programs in today’s fastest growing career fields.
