Key Legislative Issues Focus of Campus Sessions

College faculty and staff will get the latest on key issues in higher education facing Florida lawmakers during two upcoming presentations on the Cocoa and Melbourne campuses by the leader of the Association of Florida Colleges.

The sessions will be led by Michael Brawer, Executive Director and CEO of the Association of Florida Colleges, and are open to all Eastern Florida State College faculty and staff.

Brawer will visit the Cocoa campus Monday, May 18 from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. with a legislative update at 3 p.m. in the Community Dining Room, Building 11.

He’ll visit the Melbourne campus Tuesday, May 19 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. with the legislative update at 10 a.m. in the Campus Auditorium, Building 4.

Topics will include:

  • Performance based funding
  • State budget requests
  • Senior management reclassification
  • Baccalaureate degree changes
  • Tech centers becoming colleges
  • Guns on campus
  • Florida Retirement System and DROP
