Eastern Florida s Spring Graduation Set for May 14

About 2,000 students will be eligible to receive their diplomas May 14 when Eastern Florida State College holds its Spring Commencement.

The graduation will include 30 students receiving their Bachelor's Degrees, the second such bachelor's class since the college started offering four-year programs two years ago.

“Graduation is an important day in a person’s life and something they share in a special way with family and friends,” said college President Dr. Jim Richey. “That makes it the exciting start of a new phase of their lives.”

There will be two ceremonies at the King Center for the Performing Arts on the Melbourne Campus:
•    An 11:45 a.m. ceremony will feature students from the Melbourne and Palm Bay campuses, plus Bachelor's candidates.
•    A 3:15 p.m. ceremony will include students from the Titusville and Cocoa campuses, plus health sciences programs.

Doors to the King Center will open one hour before each ceremony with seating on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Both graduations will also be carried live on WEFS-TV and streamed live through the college’s website easternflorida.edu with coverage beginning at noon and 3:30 p.m.

Graduates, families and friends are encouraged to share photos and memories via social media using the hashtags #efscgrad and #WhereTitansRise.

The spring graduates will join more than 90,000 others who have earned their degrees from the college since it began in 1960.

Eastern Florida offers more than 100 degrees and certificate programs including nine Bachelor's Degree tracks along with a wide range of Associate's Degrees.

In the past three years, the college has significantly expanded its educational mission, launching 27 new programs in Business, Health Care and Computer Information Technologies that give students excellent job opportunities after graduation.

A major expansion of its Melbourne campus is also underway in a $75 million project to build six new academic buildings that will make it a center of higher education and workforce development well into the 21st century.

The first new building opened its doors in January 2015 with a state-of-the-art Public Safety Institute that trains professionals in law enforcement, corrections and other criminal justice and first responder fields.
