Eastern Florida State College’s Performing and Visual Arts Department, in collaboration with the Cocoa Campus Drama Club, will present "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" by William Shakespeare during April at the Simpkins Fine Arts Center (Bldg. 4) in the Studio Theatre.
The production is being billed as "Midsummer Mayhem" because it comes with a slight twist – Act 1 features an improvisational showcase presented by the Drama Club and led by SAK Comedy Lab, one of the largest improv training centers in the U.S. located in Orlando.
Show dates and times are as follows:
- Friday, April 17 - 7 p.m., $5 admission
- Saturday, April 18 - 7 p.m., $5 admission
- Sunday, April 19 - 2 p.m., $5 admission
- Tuesday, April 21 - 11 a.m., Note: The April 21 show does not include the Act 1 improv, but admission is free
This interpretation of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" features students from Eastern Florida's Acting 2 class under the direction of instructor Jeanine Henry. The show presents Shakespeare's comedy classic with a 60s flower power theme.
