EFSC Job Fair Connects Students with Employers

October 2, 2014

Eastern Florida State College’s Career Planning and Development Center will host its annual Fall Job Fair on Wednesday, October 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the EFSC Palm Bay Campus, 250 Community College Parkway, Palm Bay.

Attending the fair will be recruiters from more than 50 local companies, representing healthcare, retail, the food industry, banking, hospitality and engineering.

The job fair is open to all EFSC students and alumni. Students are encouraged to bring several copies of their résumé and dress in business attire.

To prepare students for the job fair, Career Planning and Development Center staff hosted a professional development workshop, held at various times on each of the four college campuses. The workshop covered topics including how to write a résumé, how to connect with prospective employers and how to interview.

“We teach students professional development skills,” said Gloria Meeks, Collegewide Associate Director, Career Planning and Development Center. "We also offer them information on job-hunting websites and job fairs. We give them the whole package."

Recruiters from the following companies, among others, will attend the Fall Job Fair: ADS Security; Aflac; Aging Matters in Brevard; Biotest Plasma Center; Brevard County Public Schools; Buckeye International; Champion Home Healthcare; City of Cocoa; Cole Engineering; Devereux FL; Fairfield Inn & Suites; Jackson; Hewitt Tax Service; Liberty IT Solutions; Lowe’s Melbourne; Massey Services; McDonald’s; Moriah Corporation; Panera Break; Pet Supermarket; PLW Modelworks LLC; PNC Bank; Sherwin-Williams; Target; Teletech; Waffle House; Walmart Stores; and Wellington Academy.

“Companies expect a high level of knowledge from their applicants," said Cathy Cady, Director of Student Recruitment and Support Services. “We help our students stand out to employers and rise to the top of their applicant pools.”

In addition to assisting students, the career center offices on each EFSC campus offer a wide range of services for employers and community organizations, including job postings, on-campus job recruitment, internships, job fairs and interview facilities.
