Moses Harvin, a member of the Eastern Florida State College Board of Trustees, has been honored as one of the top businessmen in Florida.
The U.S. Small Business Administration named him the recipient of its 2014 Veteran-Owned Small Business Person of the Year Award for the Florida and South Florida District.
In making the announcement, the agency praised Harvin for his efforts and achievements in helping other businesses flourish.
“Your personal commitment to help small business owners and entrepreneurs with their credit in order to access capital is commendable,” said Francisco Marrero, the agency’s district director in Miami.
“Your efforts directly contribute to creating and expanding businesses which provides for new job opportunities in our community. Through your resourcefulness and dedication to small business, you are making a tremendous, positive and lasting impact on Florida’s economy.”
Harvin is President and CEO of American Services Technology, Inc., a Rockledge company that serves federal agencies including the Air Force, Army, Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Energy.
The Melbourne resident is a former Army major and recipient of the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and Joint Service Medal.
Dr. Jim Richey, president of Eastern Florida State College, called the award an example of Harvin’s community leadership and commitment to others.
“The success of Eastern Florida State College and our students is the result of the vision that Moses brings to his role on the Board of Trustees,” said Richey.
“His selfless service to higher education and helping businesses prosper is an inspiring model for others to follow.”
