Eastern Florida Trustee Alan Landman Renamed Chair

Alan Landman has been named to another term as chair of the Eastern Florida State College Board of Trustees.

Trustees gave Landman their unanimous support Monday, citing his strong leadership in steering the college to offer its first Bachelor Degree programs this month.

He also played a central role in choosing Eastern Florida State College as the new name for Brevard Community College to reflect its transformation into an institution serving Brevard County and the wider Eastern Florida region.

“The college has made extraordinary strides in less than two years, announcing 20 new programs including four-year degrees and changing its name to reflect its expanding educational mission in Florida,” said Landman.

“It’s an honor to serve as chair and work closely with my fellow trustees and our president, Dr. Jim Richey. I will do everything I can to ensure the college’s continued success in improving the lives of students and bettering our community.”

Landman is a Melbourne attorney who has served as board chair since August 2011. He was appointed to the board by Gov. Charlie Crist in 2009 and reappointed to another four-year term last week by Gov. Rick Scott.

The board’s vice chair will also remain the same with Steve Charpentier holding the post. The other board members are Dewey Harris, Myra Haley and Moses Harvin.

Trustees named Moses Harvin to serve as their representative on the board of the King Center for the Performing Arts. Myra Haley will fill the same role on the board of the Eastern Florida State College Foundation.
