Bochy Donation Helps in Construction of BCC Baseball Clubhouse

A $100,000 donation from Brevard Community College graduate and former NJCAA All-American Bruce Bochy and his wife Kim has helped make the newly constructed clubhouse a reality for the BCC baseball team.

The clubhouse sits adjacent to BCC's dugout along the left field line of the baseball field named for Bochy in 2011. Bochy also has contributed to other BCC projects for baseball.

"Bruce Bochy is among BCC's most famous graduates and someone who retains very close ties to the college," said BCC President, Dr. Jim Richey. "Thanks to his generosity, our baseball players will have the best facilities in the Florida College System. We're extremely grateful for his friendship and everything he does to help our student-athletes succeed."

BCC is the only team in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference, which also includes Miami Dade College, Broward College, Palm Beach State College and Indian River State College, with a baseball clubhouse.

Bochy, who graduated from Melbourne High School, was an All-American catcher at BCC in 1975, leading the Titans to a state championship under head coach Jack Kenworthy.

Bochy last fall managed Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants to their second World Series championship in three seasons. Bochy also managed the San Diego Padres in the World Series in 1998 when they lost to the New York Yankees.

Prior to his move into management, Bochy was a backup catcher for the Padres when the Detroit Tigers defeated them in the 1984 World Series.
