BCC Professor Receives Teaching Honor

December 12, 2012 - Chemistry professor Debbie McClinton has been named the Orlando Section American Chemical Society’s (ACS) 2012 Outstanding Two-Year College Teacher.
She received the award at the ACS Annual Awards Banquet on Saturday, Dec. 1 in Titusville.
Professor McClinton is honored for her dedication to teaching the principles and practices of chemistry in a manner that inspires students and builds an interest in chemistry.
“Being recognized in this way is an incredible surprise,” said McClinton. “I really enjoy teaching chemistry, and having the chance to interest students in science as a whole. This is truly an honor.”
McClinton is an assistant professor in the Science and Health Department at the BCC Melbourne Campus. She has worked at the College since 1994.
“Professor McClinton is an example of the tradition of excellence in education here at BCC. We’re proud of her and congratulate her on this prestigious honor,” said Dr. Jim Richey, Brevard Community College President.
Based in the United States, ACS is a professional society for chemists established
in 1876. The mission of ACS is “to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its
practitioners for the benefit of Earth and its people. It achieves this mission by
supporting scientific inquiry in the field of Chemistry."
