BCC Soccer Players Named All-Americans

November 30, 2012 - The honors keep coming for Brevard Community College women's soccer players Courtney Hueston and Lois Edvardsson.

One day after being named the NJCAA Division I All-Region 8 Most Valuable Player Hueston on Friday was named to an NJCAA Division I First-Team All-American.

Edvardsson, who on Thursday was named to the All-Region 8 first team, on Friday was named a second-team All-American.

They are the first All-America selections in the soccer program's three years of existence.

The teams are selected by an NJCAA committee.

"I am thrilled for Courtney and Lois," BCC head coach Jeff Carr said. "They are both so deserving of this prestigious honor. I am thrilled that the All-American committee recognized them both for their fantastic years and their significant contributions to our successful season. They are hopefully our first of many more All-Americans In women's soccer.

Hueston and Edvardsson, who both scored 13 goals this past season, were instrumental to BCC finishing as runner-up in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament and finishing with a record of 16-2.

Hueston, a sophomore midfielder and walk-on from Miami and the University of Miami, also added 10 assists. Edvardsson, a sophomore co-captain and striker from Gothenburg, Sweden, had five assists and finished her time at BCC as the Titans' career scoring leader.

The duo join softball player Cassie Boggs of Longwood, FL who was a first-team All-America selection following her freshman season last spring as 2012 BCC honorees.

"I feel very honored," Edvardsson said. "It is a great accomplishment. I could not have done it without my teammates. I have played with amazing girls and they have been a great support on and off the field.

"Also my coaches have been great as well and they really helped me."
