Fall Choral Concert Set for November
October 30, 2012
October 30, 2012 - BCC will host a Fall Choral Concert on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at
7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Suntree United Methodist Church, 7400 N. Wickham Rd
at Pinehurst, in Melbourne.
Dr. Robert E. Lamb, director of Choral Activities, will conduct the Concert Choir and Madrigal Ensemble.
The BCC Madrigal Ensemble will open the concert with Benjamin Britten’s "A Ceremony of Carols." This lovely Christmas piece will be accompanied by special guest Dawn Marie Edwards, harpist.
The Concert Choir will perform a varied program. They’ll begin their section with a rhythmic and buoyant setting of "Psalm 150" by Ernani Aguiar, a Brazilian composer. Also included in their set will be an arrangement of Celtic music from Nova Scotia (complete with Celtic instruments!).
Music featuring texts by Octavio Paz (Mexican poet and 1990 Nobel Prize for Literature winner), Langston Hughes (celebrated poet of the Harlem Renaissance), and Mark Twain is also planned for the concert.
General Admission tickets are $5. Tickets for Military and Seniors are $4. Tickets are available in the Narthex of the sanctuary on the evening of the concert. Any Brevard County Public Schools teacher or student may attend the concert for free. Please bring your ID card.
