Deadlines Near for Public Safety Programs
October 8, 2012
October 8, 2012 - For those whose career dreams include serving the public as a firefighter,
law enforcement officer or emergency medical technician, application deadlines are
approaching for several popular, limited access programs in the Institute of Public
Safety at Brevard Community College.
The programs begin in the Spring Term that starts in January 2013 and require an application to BCC and an additional application or screening process.
Nov. 15 is the application deadline for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program, which is a one-semester, applied technology diploma program in pre-hospital emergency medical care designed for persons involved in rescue, ambulance attendants, and persons involved in emergency care of the sick or injured. Upon successful completion, the student is eligible to take the National Registry examination. CPR Certification is a pre-requisite. You can also view details of the EMT program online by clicking here.
BCC’s Fire Academy is accepting Fire Training Academy Applications through Dec. 4. Students will qualify for firefighter positions throughout Florida upon successful completion of the Minimum Standards program and state exam. Students must meet BCC admission requirements for Postsecondary Adult Vocational Certificates and Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training Requirements. The full time academy takes about three months to complete, with a part-time version taking about five months. To learn more about the Fire Academy online, click here.
