May 24, 2012

May 24, 2012 - Brevard Community College freshman outfielder Cassandra Boggs has been named to the Division 1, All-American Softball team by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Boggs is one of just 15 women from College teams across the nation to receive the NJCAA's First Team honor, which was announced today. The selections were made by each division's respective softball committee following the completion of national championship competition.

Cassie Boggs, as she's known, joined BCC after a career at Lyman High School in Longwood, FL.

In late April, Boggs also was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year. She hit .414 during the Lady Titan's 2012 season, with six home runs and 50 RBIs.

The NJCAA was created in 1938 to promote and supervise a national program of junior college sports and activities consistent with the educational objectives of community colleges.

The Lady Titans finished their season in late April with a record of 34-20. Boggs received numerous honors throughout this year, including previously being named the NJCAA Player of the Week.
