May 1, 2012, Brevard County, FL - It was an amazing run that will probably never be repeated at Brevard Community College: Nearly 30 years at the helm, 735 wins and 517 losses, two State Championships and two World Series trips.

That was the record compiled by former BCC Baseball Coach Ernie Rosseau, who stepped down in March after a legendary career that saw him mentor thousands of student-athletes.

Rosseau was honored for his service May 1 when he was presented with a plaque and framed Titans baseball jersey during a meeting with BCC President Dr. Jim Richey.

Richey praised Rosseau for his dedication, saying, “the College can never repay you for everything you have done, and for the contributions you have made to the lives of many young men. Thank you on behalf of everyone at BCC.”

Rosseau said the presentation “took my breath away” and that he was privileged to have coached for nearly three decades.

He became head coach in 1980 and sent numerous players to four-year universities and professional baseball, including Justin Hoyman, Freddie Thon, Craig Hurba, Brendan Winn and Carlos Reyes.

Rosseau played Major League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals and coached Minor League Baseball with the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox.

BCC Athletic Director Jeff Carr and current Titans Baseball Coach Jeff Tam, who pitched six seasons in the Major Leagues for teams including the New York Mets, were also on hand to honor Rosseau.

“Rosseau had a passion for the game that was incredible,” said Carr. “His legacy at BCC will never be forgotten.”
