How to Reserve Materials

Faculty may place library or personal materials on reserve for student use at any EFSC campus library using this procedure:

  • Complete a Reserve Materials Request Form using either the Reserve Request Word version or the Reserve Request PDF version (Open in a PDF Reader program for writable/savable capability). The form can be printed from the website or picked up at any campus library Circulation Desk.
  • Fill out form completely and select a checkout period. Options include: Library Use Only, One Day, One Week, etc.
  • Sign and return form to any campus library Circulation Desk with the materials to be placed on reserve.
  • Allow at least 24 hours after submitting a Reserve Materials Request Form before assigning reserve materials to a class.

Instruct students to go to their campus library Circulation Desk to request reserve items. They will need to have an EFSC Photo ID to use reserve materials. Overdue fines are incurred for late returns and vary by item.

Textbooks: Current textbooks are not purchased by the EFSC Libraries. Faculty who wish to place textbooks on reserve should supply a copy of the textbook and complete the Textbooks On Reserve Form.

Photocopies of articles or books to be placed on reserve must be approved for copyright clearance.

The "Campus Guide to Copyright Compliance" and the U.S. Copyright Office Circular 21, "Reproduction of Copyrighted Works by Educators and Librarians," also answer questions ranging from basic copyright law to the more complex topics of ILL and e-reserves.

Note: It is the responsibility of faculty to conform to copyright law. You can also view the EFSC Copyright Libguide.
