EFSC's Training Mission

We are committed to the personal, professional and career development of all staff and faculty. We believe every employee makes a significant contribution to Eastern Florida State College as it fulfills its mission to provide accessible, quality educational programs and services to our diverse population.

Our Goal

To maintain institutional vitality, foster organizational development, promote professional enrichment, and encourage personal growth and lifelong learning in support of the College's Strategic Initiatives.

To meet that goal, Eastern Florida makes a rich investment in the on-going professional development and training of faculty and staff. All full-time faculty and full-time and regular part-time staff may participate in HR sponsored employee development & training offerings.

Non-Credit Course Options

Full-time faculty and full-time and regular part-time staff may take select open enrollment non-credit courses at reduced or no cost. Participants must adhere to the guidelines explained below.

Policies & Procedures

Finding a Course

Arrangements for HR sponsored employee development & training and all non-credit faculty and staff development activities will be made through the office of Staff Professional Development. The office of Staff Professional Development will coordinate with non-credit and continuing education departments to identify eligible courses. Limitations on course availability may exist due to instructional costs, software licensing or other issues.

Participation requirements

Individuals must meet course prerequisites or requirements. For non-credit and continuing education courses, participation is contingent on space availability after the minimum number of paying students has been met. Paying students will receive priority.

Approval to Participate

When any training occurs during scheduled work hours, individuals must have the approval of their immediate supervisor to participate in the activity.

Waivers & Costs

HR sponsored employee development & training will be offered at no cost to our employees. For non-credit courses, once participation is approved, tuition may be waived. However, the student will be responsible for any textbooks, lab fees, supplies or other incidentals.

More Information

The Office of Staff and Program Development will provide, upon request, up-to-date information describing the personal and educational benefits of the College's employee-development program.
