Disability Awareness Week

Join EFSC's Student Access for Improved Learning (SAIL) team as we raise awareness and promote inclusivity for individuals with disabilities.

Throughout the week, you’ll find a variety of educational events designed to foster understanding, challenge stereotypes, and build a more connected campus. Highlights include a thought-provoking guest speaker presentation and panel discussion on our Melbourne Campus, focused on promoting disability awareness and advocacy.

You’ll also have the chance to take part in interactive activities and meet with community resources that can help eliminate barriers in the community as you learn how to think "outside of the box" about what disabilities look like.

Don’t forget to snag some freebies as you visit each vendor — and take something home to help you remember what you’ve learned about the difference you can make in your community.

The annual Disability Awareness Week at EFSC is an opportunity to learn, grow, and celebrate the unique abilities and perspectives of every individual in our community as we provide services that empower everyone to reach their full potential.

The Accessibility Difference

Justin Miller, who was born with cerebral palsy, counted on the SAIL team to help him earn his A.A. degree and then his bachelor's.

At EFSC's Fall 2022 Commencement Ceremony, Justin rose out of his wheelchair to walk across the stage unassisted as he received his Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems Technology with a specialization in Cybersecurity.
