At Eastern Florida State College, you have the opportunity to pursue a Certified Production Technician (CPT) designation accredited by the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC). This certification equips you with essential technical skills that are applicable to a wide range of entry-level manufacturing positions.

The program spans 10 weeks and is conducted as a live online class, with classes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 PM to 10 PM. You can actively participate in the live online classes, interact with instructors, and access a dedicated textbook for each of the four modules included in the curriculum. If you're unable to attend a live session, recorded classes are available, and you can address any questions via email.

CPT training at EFSC can lead to industry certifications which can potentially earn you up to 15 college credits, which can be instrumental in progressing toward an associate degree in Engineering Technology.

For employers, CPT certification offers a way to enhance your workforce. Your employees will acquire valuable skills that translate into reduced turnover, improved teamwork, and lowered recruitment expenses.

Certification Exams

Upon completing each of the four units, a certification exam is available through the MSSC. The exams cover the following subjects (each of which specify key activities):

You can choose to take these exams in person at EFSC's Cocoa Campus Assessment Center or, with authorization and by meeting the necessary technical requirements, from the comfort of your home through ProctorU. To support your exam preparation, we provide practice quizzes and vocabulary resources.

Upon successfully passing each exam, you'll receive a certificate for that specific topic. Completion of all four exams leads to your attainment of CPT status, with registration through the MSSC.

Scholarship, Registration, and Orientation Details

The CPT course (MSHX 0007) has a tuition fee of $650, which includes books and the MSSC/CPT exam fee. If you live in Brevard County, you might be eligible for an EFSC Foundation scholarship funded by the local Economic Development Commission that can pay those course costs. Self-pay students, and students funded by their employer are also welcome to register.

There is a two-step process to register and be evaluated for the scholarship, so be sure to do all steps.
Please note: The scholarship application is due by 11:59 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

A required orientation will be held online Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 1 PM. Keep that time available and if accepted into the class, you'll receive the Microsoft Teams link for orientation.
