Use EFSC-issued I-20 Form to complete the F1 Visa process
When you receive a letter of acceptance from Eastern Florida State College, it will include your I-20 Form if applicable. You will be required to follow the next steps in that process to pay a SEVIS fee and make a visa interview appointment. Click here for details on the F-1 Visa: I-20 and SEVIS process
Complete required orientation sessions & submit proof of health insurance
International Student Orientation is mandatory for all new F-1 Visa students. During
International Student Orientation you will receive information and materials on the
laws concerning your immigration status, conduct initial immigration check-in, and
learn about the programs and services available at Eastern Florida State College.
You can turn in your required health insurance forms at orientation.
As a new student at EFSC, you will also be required to complete a new student orientation for all first time in college students, transfer students, re-admit students, and non-degree seeking students who have not earned an associate degree or higher. It’s an introduction to life at Eastern Florida. Click here for more on the general EFSC orientation.
Your acceptance letter will have the dates and times for International Student Orientation. Plan your arrival date to be at Eastern Florida State College before the start of International Student Orientation. Visit the International Student Services page for more information on what you should except during your stay in the U.S.
Complete assessment and placement testing
To determine if your degree or certificate program requires placement testing, please review the EFSC Program & Admission Requirements. You can also find information about Placement Testing requirements for college credit courses in that section of our website.
If you’ve taken the SAT/ACT and your scores are less than two years old or if you’ve completed college level English and math courses with a grade of “C” or higher, have your official test score reports and/or official transcripts sent to your primary campus.
No scores or previous college? No problem. Eastern Florida offers College-Credit and Vocational Credit testing, which you can explore at our Placement Testing website. You’ll find lots of resources for test preparation.
Meet with an International Student Advisor and register for classes
You will need to meet with an International Student Advisor to review Placement Test scores, develop an educational plan, choose and register for classes, review holds on your account and address other academic concerns. As an international student, you will be required to meet with an advisor at the beginning of every term to monitor progress and remain in compliance with your F-1 visa status.
