Web Development Specialist Certificate Program
Study to become a web developer at Eastern Florida! You'll learn the fundamentals common to all programming languages, as well as how to write code in Java, C++, C#, and more. You'll also learn how to create websites that can store and transport data using extensible markup language (XML).
What does a web developer do? Web developers, sometimes known as web programmers or web engineers, are essentially responsible for creating websites. Developers can take on a variety of different roles, such as:
- Front-end developer: Handles website design, including appearance and user experience
- Back-end developer: Builds technical code that tells a site how to function
- Webmaster: Updates, maintains, and troubleshoots issues with a website
After graduation, web developers often go on to work independently as freelancers, or as part of a company's web development team. This certificate's courses can also be used to build toward EFSC's Computer Programming and Analysis associate degree.
Eastern Florida State College faculty have many years of experience teaching programming and web design techniques. Many have worked as computer programmers or web page designers and favor a hands-on approach to web development education.

With convenient evening and online course options available to supplement your on-campus experience, full-time students can complete EFSC's Web Development certificate in as few as 18 months either on campus or through a hybrid combination of online and face-to-face courses. What's more, many of the devtools you'll need as a website developer are available for free — so you'll also be able to code from your home computer.

The Web Development CCC is an open access program with rolling admissions. You can submit your application via EFSC's standard enrollment process. Contact the program advisor for help with degree planning and enrollment questions.
Web Development Program Costs & Financial Aid Opportunities
Tuition for EFSC's Web Development certificate costs approximately $3,700 for in-state residents — far less than comparable programs at other schools. You may also be eligible to receive financial aid and scholarships that can decrease your out-of-pocket expenses as you study web development at Eastern Florida.

We offer many of the classes required for the Web Development certificate on all four EFSC campuses, with several also available online or in a hybrid format. Here are some of the courses you'll complete as you work toward your certificate:
Learn the HTML and CSS skills necessary for creating websites! You'll cover graphics, audio, animation, video, tables, forms, and more.
Learn the basics of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software through an in-depth exploration of Microsoft Office.
In this intro course, you'll use DTDs, XML schema, CSS, and XSL to create well-formed and valid XML documents.
