Choral Music
If you're focusing on choral music at EFSC, you're working toward an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree. To fulfill this degree, you need a minimum of 60 college-level credits, comprised of 36 general education credits and 24 elective credits.
Six of your general education credits must be in the humanities. We recommend that voice majors take Survey of Music Literature (MUL 2010), which fulfills three of your required humanities credits.
As a music student, you're encouraged to enroll in at least eight or nine credits of music classes per term. Voice majors typically enroll in eight credits per term, which count as electives for the A.A. degree.
Since there are various ensemble offerings, many music majors take around two-and-a-half to three years to complete this degree.
To transfer to a university with a music program, you'll typically need a minimum of 68 to 72 credits. EFSC advisors and music faculty are available to assist you in planning your courses as you pursue the associate degree and prepare for transfer to a bachelor-level music program. We also recommend you work with an advisor at the institution you plan to transfer to for planning course prerequisites.
