Radiography - Associate Degree
Radiographers, also called radiologic technologists, perform X-rays, CT scans, MRIs and other critical forms of medical imaging to help diagnose illnesses and conditions.

EFSC’s combination of academic study and clinical experience prepares students to take the radiography exam for national certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Florida’s state licensure examination. After becoming licensed, our graduates go on to work in hospitals, doctors’ offices, and other medical facilities.

Radiography A.S. Course CURRICULUM
New students begin the program in the Summer Term (June) and are then enrolled on a full-time basis for 24 consecutive months. General studies classes may be completed prior to admission to the program.
The curriculum includes comprehensive study of all requirements of the radiography and medical imaging profession through classroom courses, laboratory simulations, and hospital clinical training, including 1,300 hours of hands-on externships in area medical facilities that prepare you for radiography jobs in the real world.
Clinical rotations take place at VA Outpatient Clinic, Viera Diagnostic, All Health First Hospitals and their affiliates, Steward Health Care facilities in Rockledge and Melbourne, and Parrish Medical Center. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to the clinical facilities. Clinical rotations will be scheduled during the week between the hours of 7 AM to 10 PM. Students typically do not have weekend clinical rotations.
Radiography A.S. - Admissions Information
EFSC’s Radiography program is limited access and has a specialized application and selection process. Core courses begin each June and the annual application deadline is February 15th. Follow the steps below to apply:
- Meet with a Health Sciences advisor to review program requirements and the selection process. Radiography selection for
admission is guided by a selection point scale. Discussing this with a health science advisor before you apply is recommended as
part of the process.
- Apply for Admission: Interested students must review and complete the customized Radiography Application Process. Completed application files are due by the annual deadline.

- If selected, complete Accepted Student Requirements. Students accepted in the Radiography A.S. program are required to complete and pass a Level 2 background check, drug screening, and comply with immunization requirements.
Costs & Financial Aid Eligibility
Estimated expenses, including tuition, textbooks, and lab fees for EFSC’s Radiography A.S. degree total approximately $10,000, one of the most affordable programs in Florida.
The program is eligible for Federal financial aid. You may qualify for financial aid and scholarships, including Titan Scholarships funded through the EFSC Foundation, such as the Raymond Yandre Radiologic Technology Scholarship. Additionally, there are community-based external scholarships that you can explore to help cover the costs of your education.
College Courses You Would Take
As you work through the full catalog curriculum, these are just some of the courses you will take:
An intro to diseases & their effects on the body, with emphasis on those disease processes that are demonstrated radiographically.
Students will identify anatomical structures, evaluate positioning, critique the images
for errors, artifacts, & areas in need of improvement, plus discuss imaging techniques.
Students will complete five clinical rotations in a supervised clinical setting, putting
theory into practice. Students will rotate through assigned areas & assist the staff
radiographers.

Hands-on Training to Prepare for Certification
EFSC’s radiography lab has both an energized state-of-the-art X-ray imaging suite and a non-energized imaging area for student lab practice and simulations. Students also train with experienced, certified, and licensed faculty using a mobile X-ray machine and a mobile fluoroscopic C-arm unit for exam simulations using a wide range of anthropomorphic phantoms.
EFSC radiography graduates are eligible to sit for the ARRT examination to become a registered radiographer. Our students have a consistently high ARRT registry first-time pass rate. They find radiography jobs handily, as evidenced by our program effectiveness data.

In keeping with the College's Mission and Philosophy, the mission of the Radiography Program is to meet student needs by offering quality instruction using theory and performance-based instruction, which will enable the student to graduate with the necessary skills to succeed as a radiographer and/or to continue ongoing educational goals.
