Eastern Florida State College's Computer Information Technology program prepares students for careers in the business applications of computers. Students choose one of three options: Database Administrator Specialization; Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialization; and Help Desk Specialization. Plus explore the shorter term certificates related to this degree.
Computer Information Pathways
The Common Core for Computer Technology Programs
The Computer Information Technology A.S., Computer Programming & Analysis A.S. and Network Systems Technology A.S. degrees share six common core computer courses. These courses, plus other requirements, are outlined in detail on the program's catalog curriculum page, including hyperlinked course descriptions with any course prerequisite details.
The core courses provide training in the basic concepts that underlie computing technology, computer programming, database techniques, analysis and design and common user applications.
Not all Computer Information Technology courses are offered every semester. Students are encouraged to register for courses when offered.

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) College Credit Certificate (GICC)
This certificate prepares graduates to work in the growing GIS field, with training that includes concepts of spatial variables, scale, map projection, and map coordinate systems. Topics include displaying, managing, querying, symbolizing, and creating geospatial data. Students will learn the skills required to work on and/or build advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/ Remote Sensing (RS) projects.

Internship Course Information
The Internship course, CGS 2941 is an elective credit option for the A.S. degree in Information Technology.
Be prepared! Completion of intermediate and several advanced level courses is required.
Internships are coordinated by the Career Planning & Development Center.
